Building Composites LLC Launches AIA-Approved Course on Composite Systems for High-Performance Architecture
New course helps architects meet continuing education requirements while exploring next-generation, building envelope solutions
Building Composites LLC, an innovator in structural composite exterior building enclosure systems, is pleased to announce the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has approved its new continuing education course, Innovating the Building Envelope: Composite Systems for High-Performance Architecture. The course is now open for enrollment as a ‘lunch & learn’ session, helping architects meet their continuing education requirements while deepening their understanding of advanced composite materials and modern envelope design.
The course examines the growing role of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) technology in today’s construction landscape, with a focus on HyperWall™, Building Composites’ proprietary FRP building skin system. Course participants will gain insights into key market drivers — including labor scarcity, rising costs and sustainability imperatives — and explore how composite panel systems can help address these challenges through enhanced structural performance, durability and design flexibility.
By completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Discern how the material properties of FRP structural composites — including durability, fire performance and long-term resilience — compare to conventional materials.
- Assess the sustainability advantages of composite systems, focusing on embodied carbon reduction, lifecycle performance and alignment with Architecture2030 goals.
- Evaluate installation and construction efficiencies offered by prefabricated composite panels, including labor savings, faster installation and simplified on-site coordination.
- Understand how the HyperWall system combines all four critical building envelope functions — including thermal, air, water and vapor control — into a single prefabricated solution.
“Architects today are balancing performance, sustainability and constructability like never before, ”said Andrew Elliot, chief revenue officer at Building Composites. “We’re thrilled the AIA has recognized our course as a valuable resource for design professionals, giving them the tools to meet those goals more effectively and efficiently.”
The course is available for enrollment through AIA’s continuing education program. To register, email aelliot@building-composites.com. To learn more about the HyperWall building enclosure system, visit www.building-composites.com.
